David August + Noemi Buchi

DAVID AUGUST + NOÉMI BÜCHI Electronic pads that seem to float in the air, a piano that appears in fragments, discreet pulses that gradually fill the entire space. With David August, music moves like a living, changing material that progressively transforms the way we listen. A trained pianist, composer, producer and founder of the label 99CHANTS, the Italian-German artist has been building for more than ten years a body of work that connects electronic music, contemporary composition and live performance. Breaking through on major international electronic stages in the early 2010s, he has gradually moved away from the most codified formats to develop a freer approach, fed by experimentation, improvisation and sonic research. For this performance, he combines piano, electronic textures and soundscapes in a format that goes beyond the usual boundaries of the concert. His appearance is part of an effort to introduce artists who dare to step outside established frameworks in order to offer singular stage experiences. THE PRESS ON HIM “David August proves that the simplest notes are the hardest to play and to make ring true.” Echoes & Dust “An intimate and instinctive album born of isolation and contemplation.” Decoded Magazine + NOÉMI BÜCHI OPENING ACT Composer and sound artist Noémi Büchi will present Exuvie, a work at the crossroads of electronic music, orchestral writing and sound installation. Shown both at experimental music festivals and in contemporary art contexts, her work pays particular attention to textures, acoustic phenomena and transformations of sonic matter.
