Suicide Commando and Assemblage 23 team up on joint single I Am Your Darkness

Suicide Commando, a Belgian electro-industrial project founded in 1986, and Assemblage 23, the EBM project of American Tom Shear active since 1988, released the single “I Am Your Darkness” on Out Of Line Music on 30 October 2026.

The single includes a “Radio Edit” version and a longer version subtitled “Kill Your Demons”. According to Side-Line, the first pairs a fast rhythm and Johan Van Roy's abrasive vocals with synthesizers whose melodic urgency recalls futurepop more than traditional hard electro. The second develops the melodic side further.

The two projects already know each other: Assemblage 23 remixed Suicide Commando's “One Nation Under God” in 2004, then “I'd Die for You” for the album Goddestruktor in 2022. Tom Shear, for his part, released the album Null in 2025.

A physical five-track EP will follow on 3 December 2026, with additional interpretations by DSTRTD SGNL, KLLSIGNL and J Wølf.

ZIO, Belgian band from Tessenderlo, releases the album In the Shadow

ZIO comes from Tessenderlo, Belgium, and combines dark wave, new wave and alternative rock. Its self-released album In the Shadow has twelve tracks built on dense synthesizer layers, strong guitars and driving rhythms.

Orkus, in a piece by Jan Schütz, notes a balance between melancholy and energy, as well as cinematic passages that regularly tip into raw emotion. The magazine also observes that the band draws on the roots of the genre.

NER\OGRIS releases Fame Fatale and a covers album, Song We Wish We Had Written

The duo NER\OGRIS, made up of Kai Neugebauer on electronics and Tino Claus on vocals, released two records on Fakenoise Recordings on 2 October 2026: the album Fame Fatale and Song We Wish We Had Written, a covers album. The style falls under dark electro, industrial and experimental.

Fame Fatale follows I Am the Shadow - I Am the Light and the EP Silenci. According to ReGen Magazine, distorted sequences grind against precise percussion, and the vocals shift from accusation to sarcasm. Tracks include “Antithese”, “A View”, “Graves”, “Glowing in the Dark”, “Unter Menschen” and, to close, “Dulcimer”. The lyrics deal with manipulation, alienation and the attention economy.

Song We Wish We Had Written gathers seven covers: Calva Y Nada (“Der Sturm”), Project Pitchfork (“K.N.K.A.”), Borghesia (“No Hope, No Fear”), Skinny Puppy (“Smothered Hope”), Tribantura (“Lack of Sense”), X Marks the Pedwalk (“Abattoir”) and Nitzer Ebb (“Come Alive”).

Black Ferns: Failed Plans, new single ahead of the album Di Lodus

The Seattle post-punk band Black Ferns unveils Failed Plans, the new single from its third album Di Lodus, which features eleven tracks.

The song takes an abandoned ship trapped in Arctic ice as its image and turns it into a mirror of an exhausted romance. Zoran Macesic plays the guitars, with long, heavily processed chords that Post-Punk.com compares to Echo & the Bunnymen. The bass and drums keep a steady, almost mechanical rhythm, while the synthesizers add a cold tension. The lyrics' imagery remains abstract, and the distant voice at times melts into the instrumental layers.

The production is by Lincoln Traveller, who leaves space for the instruments while keeping a sense of confinement.

Rosa†Crvx shoots Aglon - Dans la Crypte in its own crypt

French gothic band Rosa†Crvx releases the video for “Aglon - Dans la Crypte”, a reworked version of one of the first tracks composed for the project. The video, a live performance, was shot in the band's crypt, which already served as the setting for the clips of “1335”, “Nescit Nox” and “Eli Elo”.

The track draws on a formula from a witchcraft trial, supposed to allow one to rise into the air like a raven. Olivier Tarabo, who leads the band, found the text in the archives of the National Library in Paris, within the “Clavicula Salomonis”, while studying demonology at art school.

The sound rests on church organs and a glockenspiel, counterbalanced by fast, more rock-oriented drums. Tarabo says he sings the piece with conviction, as in a prayer, and adds: “I don't like clichés. Only sincerity matters to me.”

Corpus Delicti covers Dead Can Dance with The Carnival is over, a black-and-white video

The Nice-based band Corpus Delicti is opening a new cycle around its self-released album Liminal. The black-and-white video for The Carnival is over, a cover of a Dead Can Dance classic, was directed in the summer of 2026 by Elliot Pietrapiana, with additional footage by Noé Pietrapiana. The track will be available on streaming platforms on November 6, 2026.

The cover will appear on the EP The Other Hand, a vinyl release that gathers unreleased material and tracks recorded during the Liminal sessions that were left in the drawer. The EP comes out on its own, and also as part of Liminal (Extended), an expanded gatefold vinyl edition of the album that adds five tracks.

Pre-orders open on November 9 through Wiseband, an independent distributor the band has just signed with. A ten-track deluxe version of the single Noxious - The Demon's Game, featuring the vocal takes of the first singer, Manu, is planned for late January 2027 and is already available for pre-order on Bandcamp.

Masonique unveils the video for Too Many Villains, first single from the album Otherhood

The Portland post-punk trio Masonique, led by Ron Mason Gassaway, releases Too Many Villains, the first single from its album Otherhood, slated for October 30, 2026. The song comes with a video.

The track rests on a massive bass line, a mechanically precise rhythm and synthesizers that are by turns abrasive and melodic. Post-Punk.com places it somewhere between Bauhaus and Devo, with an electric paranoia in the vein of Gary Numan. The lyrics take aim at algorithmic manipulation, arbitrary detentions, manufactured wars and the profitable destruction of the planet.

The video blends glitch-saturated animation, brutalist prison architecture, surveillance cameras and the White House.

Bassist Keith Martinez, who died in December 2025, plays on the recording: his part was kept. Desmond Cruz, who now plays bass, handles the backing vocals. The band, whose mythology presents them as time travelers sent to put the planet right, released As The World Burns in 2024.

Llumen presents Winter Eden, its fourth dark electro album

Llumen, a dark electro project from Ghent led by Pieter Coussement, presents Winter Eden, its fourth album. The record is built around the contrast between two notions: Eden, a state of warmth and connection, and Winter, which stands for isolation, silence and emotional paralysis. Coussement does not set them against each other but treats them as linked concepts: meaning, love and beauty can exist even in the darkest periods.

According to Dark Entries, the twelve tracks trace a slow transition from disorientation to warmth, reflection and intimacy. The album opens with “Adrift”, then moves on to “Away From Here” and “The Leftovers”, which deals with the control exerted by digital systems and lends itself to dancing.

It also features “Blood And Bone”, “Eden After Winter”, “All Clouds Will Be Horses”, “The Gold Lined Scars”, “Between The Words”, “The Endless Faded Grey” and “I Take What's Mine”. “Behind The Door” comes before “Holy Tears”, which closes the record by bringing Winter and Eden together.

Silke Bischoff: the compilation Tears remastered on Dependent Records

Dependent Records released Tears - A Collection of Silke Bischoff Songs on 25 September 2026, a compilation by this darkwave and synthpop band. Olaf Wollschläger handled the remastering, which lets the age of the recordings show. The record runs for 77 minutes.

It opens with “Tears”, recorded in 1992, left unreleased for over three decades and sonically rebuilt in 2025, with the original arrangement kept. It also includes “Under Your Skin”, which Axel Kretschmann describes as a product of their creative peak, as well as “No Paradise”, “The Man On the Wooden Cross”, “Northern Lights” and “On the Other Side”.

ReGen Magazine remarks that the track order follows emotional continuity rather than chronology, which gives few reference points on the band's evolution.

Return of the Living Dead: John A. Russo's novel returns in hardcover from Titan Books

Titan Books is reissuing Return of the Living Dead: The Official Novelization in hardcover on March 30, 2027. John A. Russo's novel dates from 1978, seven years before Dan O'Bannon's film, released in 1985. Russo had co-written Night of the Living Dead with George Romero before continuing on his own, in a very different direction.

The book follows two warehouse workers, Frank and Freddy, who stumble upon a secret military experiment and release a gas that reanimates the dead in Louisville, Kentucky. Their boss and a mysterious undertaker are drawn in with them. The tone is markedly darker than the macabre comedy of the film.

This edition runs 208 pages and costs $20, with an ebook released the same day. It can be pre-ordered through Penguin Random House. Titan had already reissued the novelization of Night of the Living Dead, also written by Russo, in hardcover.

Nuzo Onoh blends West African goddesses and Western revenge in The Turning of Sally-Mae

Titan Books published The Turning of Sally-Mae on October 20, 2026, the new novel by Nuzo Onoh, whom Rue Morgue presents as one of the major voices in African horror. The book is available in paperback (320 pages, $18.99) and as an ebook. It follows a two-book deal signed with the publisher in 2024.

The story follows Sally-Mae Jenkins, assaulted in the American West by the twin sons of a wealthy rancher and pregnant as a result of the attack. To smother the scandal, she is sent overseas on a missionary ship under the identity of a widow. In an African village, her unborn children attract two rival powers: the python goddess Asata, who wants them dead, and the death spirit Aja-Mmo, who wants to enslave them. As they grow up, the twins become the instrument of their mother's revenge.

The author says she draws on Igbo cosmology and oral tradition, which she filters through the codes of classic horror. Here, the novel grafts West African deities and spirits onto a story of frontier revenge.

Horror game Madison to be adapted into a film by Story Kitchen

The production company Story Kitchen is preparing a film adaptation of Madison, a horror video game released in 2022 by Bloodious Games, Écran Large reported on October 28, 2026. The studio, founded by Dmitri M. Johnson and Michael Lawrence Goldberg, specializes in game adaptations: it is behind the Sonic films, among others, and is working on House of the Dead, which Paul W.S. Anderson is set to direct.

In the game, Luca wakes up locked in a room, blood on his hands, his furious father on the other side of the door. He takes refuge in an abandoned part of the house. The instant camera he received for his 16th birthday lets him see what escapes the living, possible ghosts and demons, and he tries to carry out a ritual in order to survive.

According to Écran Large, the game recalls Project Zero, Layers of Fear, Insidious and Resident Evil 7, without standing out for its originality.

Sleepaway Camp: original negative found, Scream Factory prepares 4K restoration

Scream Factory announces, in a post on social media, that an original negative of Sleepaway Camp (1983) has been found. The label is working on a 4K restoration of the film.

Written and directed by Robert Hiltzik, this cult slasher follows cousins Ricky (Jonathan Tiersten) and Angela (Felissa Rose) at a summer camp, where a series of deaths leads to one of the most talked-about endings in the genre.

Horror Obsessive points out that what is at stake goes beyond image sharpness. The film relies on what is left unsaid, and high-definition editions have already made the backlit silhouette, the film's most unsettling shot, less opaque. The site also notes that continuity errors, such as a policeman's visibly fake mustache, would become more noticeable. In its view, a good restoration must keep the grain and the flaws, and the negative makes it possible to recover what the crew filmed before successive generations of copies.
