Desinteresse unveils “Falling Faces”, first single from the album A Picture

The Dutch coldwave trio Desinteresse has announced its next album, A Picture, due at the end of 2026 on Fabrika Records. The first and only single, “Falling Faces”, is also the band's first song sung in English. The video was filmed by Romy Janssen, a friend of the band.

Post-Punk.com compares the track to The Cure in the era of Seventeen Seconds and Faith, notably “Play for Today” and “Primary”. The forward bass and the flanger-treated guitar move ahead together, carried by a steady drum beat. The voice brings a crack to a very restrained performance. The lyrics deal with the distance that follows the intimacy of a dance, with the chorus “Push it away”.

In the video, blue lighting, grainy footage and horizontal tracking lines give the impression of a post-punk recording preserved on an old tape.

Desinteresse was born in the Netherlands in late 2022 from the duo of bassist Bart Vranken and Sem van den Munckhof (vocals, guitar, synthesizer). Their first tapes, Voor Altijd and Ik Wil Dood Als Ik Het Vergeet, came out in 2023 on their own label DECADENCE. Drummer Joppe de Swart joined in 2024. On Fabrika Records, the band released Onschuld in September 2025, recorded analog in Amsterdam, in the spirit of The Cure's Faith and Pornography, Joy Division and the French band Trop Tard.

Lowsunday remixed by Psychotribe and Sam Rosenthal on “Call Silence Remixed”

The Pittsburgh darkwave-shoegaze duo Lowsunday released “Call Silence Remixed” on October 9, 2026 on Projekt Records, a two-track single that reworks “Call Silence”.

Psychotribe, alias of Peter Guellard (DEATĦ B¥ LØVE), delivers the “Silent Tribe Remix”, which shifts the track's post-punk tension toward EBM and electronics. Sam Rosenthal, founder of Projekt and Black Tape For A Blue Girl, offers a second remix built on austere drones and spacious electronic pads. Vocalist Shane Sahene sings both versions, and bassist Bobby Spell co-wrote them with each remixer.

Guellard also filmed, produced and directed a video for his remix, shot at the University of Pittsburgh's Posvar Hall, with Sahene and Sereny Welsby. It evokes the architecture of the city where he and Sahene found themselves in the same music community more than thirty years ago.

Formed in 1994 as Low Sunday Ghost Machine, the band released two albums (1996, 1999), then went silent for about 25 years. It returned in 2025 with expanded reissues and the “White EP” and “Black EP” on Projekt. The single is available on Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music.

Pete Fij: “Complicated” and its post-punk guitars on the album Up's The New Down

Pete Fij released his album Up's The New Down on September 25, 2026 on Tip Top Records. Spill Magazine presents the single “Complicated”, whose video Fij has just unveiled exclusively.

The track rests on post-punk guitars and a tension that builds throughout, while keeping Fij's sense of melody. “I wanted to recapture that ferocious energy of pent-up passion, and post-punk guitars felt like the best way to express it,” Fij says.

The album extends a past of fuzz-drenched dream-pop by adding pop, electronics and sharper edges from post-punk. It also includes the singles “Don't Bring Me Sunshine”, “Cuckoo”, “Love's Coming Back” and “Wake Up Honey”.

Åskväder prepares “Wax”, its third post-punk album

The Swedish band Åskväder, formed in 2018, released a self-titled debut album two years later. Its name means “thunderstorm” in Swedish. “Wax” is its third album.

The title is that of the title track, which existed before the record was named. In an interview with Orkus, Martin Gut explains that the song is a metaphor drawing heavily on the myth of Icarus, considered fitting because it somehow sums up the overall feeling of the album.

A video has been released for the track “Salt”.

I Ya Toyah releases “White Walls”, a single for mental health

Ania Tarnowska, sole force behind I Ya Toyah, has released “White Walls”, her fourth single of 2026. The track addresses the moments when darkness becomes too heavy to carry. “This song is for the battles we don't always see, and for the people who carry them in silence,” she explains.

Johnny K. mixed the track and co-produced it with I Ya Toyah, and Howie Weinberg mastered it. The video was directed, shot and edited by Alex Zarek, with makeup by Janet Debris.

The single is available on Bandcamp, and all proceeds go to Backline, an organization offering mental health help and support to music professionals. The release was timed for World Mental Health Day, on October 10.

“White Walls” follows the cover of Nine Inch Nails' “Closer” in August, and the singles “Feelings” in May and “Apology” in June. All extend the album DRAMA, released in 2024.

SKYND releases the video for “Danny Masterson”, third case file of Chapter VIII: The Open Secret

SKYND continues its Chapter VIII: The Open Secret series with “Danny Masterson”, a single available on streaming platforms and accompanied by a video. The project examines how pop-celebrity fantasies were used to cover up abuse that remained in plain sight. The track targets actor Danny Masterson, who is serving a sentence of 30 years to life for the rape of two women. The offenses date back to 2003, but the conviction only came in 2023, after twenty years of further accusations. The chorus, “I'll take you to church and pray”, refers to the Church of Scientology, of which Masterson is a member, and to its role in obstructing investigations and in the silence imposed on the victims, who were also Scientologists.

The video was directed, shot and edited by Peter Leukhardt, a longtime collaborator of the band. SKYND appears in an interrogation setting opposite Lukas Schönfeld, who plays the actor. The lyrics, visual and sound effects, laugh track included, imitate the aesthetic of That '70s Show, a series in which Masterson was one of the stars for eight years. The band states that no AI was used: the motion graphics are by Tamara Llenas (Aimed & Framed).

The track follows “Jimmy Saville”, which featured a collaboration with EDM producer Brandon Thomas Carroll (SWARM), and the installment devoted to Johnny Kitagawa. The series succeeds Chapter VII: Red Winter (2025), centered on the Russian serial killers Andrei Chikatilo, Tamara Samsonova and Mikhail Popkov.

Psyche: Unveiling the Secret reissued for its 40th anniversary on Vuz Records

The Canadian synthpop duo Psyche is reissuing Unveiling the Secret for its 40th anniversary. The release is announced for October 23, 2026 on Vuz Records. The album originally came out in 1986 on New Rose Records.

This edition, remastered and lightly re-edited compared with the original, adds “The Crawler”, a track previously found on the 12-inch maxi “Unveiling the Secret + Screaming Machine”. It comes as two limited 180-gram vinyl records with a lyric insert: a white version limited to 100 copies and a red galaxy version limited to 200 copies.

According to Side-Line, this is the album's fourth reissue, after the Synthetic Symphony/SPV CDs in 1997 and 2003, and the Artoffact Records CD and vinyl edition in 2016.

Psyche formed in 1982 in Edmonton (Alberta) around brothers Darrin and Stephen Huss. Unveiling the Secret led to a deal with the Paris label New Rose and to the band's international breakthrough. Darrin Huss remains its constant member, and the band is now based in Germany.

Manufracture Music: “System Apathy”, industrial made solely on machines

Vienna-based producer Valerian Steel has released “System Apathy” under the name of the industrial project Manufracture Music. The single is available for pre-order. Post-Punk.com hears in it the mechanical rigor of Front 242 and Front Line Assembly, the electronic aggression of Nitzer Ebb and the experimental severity of Orphx.

The track belongs to the A.C.I. (Analog Core Industrial) concept, which rejects digital shortcuts, software instruments and AI-generated music: every sound comes from physical hardware.

The lyrics describe a civilization close to final malfunction: leaders sliding into madness, armies carrying out destructive orders, spreading pollution, technical systems collapsing under their own complexity. The subject is memory and indifference, which lets history vanish while its witnesses are still around.

Valerian Steel has a background in classical piano and choral singing and an alternative culture from the late 1980s. Other projects include Music of Synergia (cinematic ambient) and Fourtyfication*5 (glitch-oriented electronic dance music).

Anenzephalia returns with Lurking in the Shadows of the Broadcast Empire

The Mannheim band Anenzephalia, veterans of industrial and power electronics, released Lurking in the Shadows of the Broadcast Empire on August 14, 2026 on Tesco Organisation, also based in Mannheim. Ten tracks, about 42 minutes.

After the album Kaltwelt (2012), the following releases, Instrumentalities (2014), Programmatika (2017) and Magenta (2018), were only compilations, and the band seemed finished. It has returned with the daughter of vocalist Brigant Moloch on vocals, in place of W. Herich (Genocide Organ), who usually assists. A cassette of new tracks came out on De/TAINMENT TAPES, with an early version of “Moloch”.

The Dark Entries review describes continuity rather than a break. “From the same people” opens with a robotic voice sample speaking of torture and ritual abuse. “Citizens of Neglect” brings the pulsing bass of the “Tesco sound”, with a first verse by Moloch's daughter. The review also notes voices more present than ever, and more nuanced in the daughter than in the father.

clAudyo teams up with Stefan of 1. Mai 87 for “Wohin eigentlich? Und Warum?”

clAudyo blends electronic elements with acoustic sounds, wave guitars and personal stories. The result sits somewhere between wave, indie and postpunk, with a 90s energy that is both light and dystopian.

For his new track, “Wohin eigentlich? Und Warum?”, he teams up with Stefan of 1. Mai 87. The song asks life’s big questions from a state of exhaustion, but with strength and a desire to find a direction. Orkus magazine describes it as a danceable journey between end-of-the-world mood, nostalgia and a fresh start.

Orkus also runs an interview with clAudyo in its October/November issue.

“American Grave”: Futurismo revisits American deathrock from 1978 to 1988

The English label Futurismo is releasing “American Grave - Gothic Punk/Deathrock USA:1978-1988”, a 24-track compilation devoted to the deathrock scene that emerged in the late 70s on the West Coast of the United States. It opens with “Spiritual Cramp” by Christian Death.

It also features The Cramps, The Lords Of The New Church, Super Heroines, The Gun Club, Red Temple Spirits, 45 Grave, Altar de Fey, Mighty Sphincter and Kommunity FK, as well as The Flesh Eaters, Theatre Of Ice, Shadow Of Fear, Of A Mesh and The Naked And The Dead. The panorama ranges from the punk of T.S.O.L. (“Code Blue”) or 45 Grave (“Violent World”) to darker pieces such as “Human Condition” by Psi Com, or ones closer to post-punk and cold wave, such as “I Want To Be You” by Your Funeral. Gothabilly and the garage rock of Dead Moon (“Graveyard”) are also represented.

Dark Entries notes the absence of Mephisto Walz, whose self-titled EP was released in Europe. At the time of the review, the “heart worm” vinyl edition was sold out, while the “splintered tomb” and “bat corpse” versions and the digipak CD remained available. The outlet sees it as a passionate collection that pays tribute to the bands of a scene that arrived later in Europe, where it moved closer to gothic rock.
