CTRL CLICK releases Systems For Disassembly, a debut dark electro album about dehumanization

The Chicago-based dark electro project CTRL CLICK, led by Eric Nofsinger, releases its debut album, Systems For Disassembly, on November 6 through Negative Gain Productions. Pre-orders are open on streaming platforms and on Bandcamp, in digital and CD formats.

The 14 tracks look at the world from several angles: corporate culture, technological proliferation, addiction, mortality. The common thread is a question: how to stay human in an environment that dehumanizes. The album depicts systems that measure, medicate and monetize the population, from pharmacies to server rooms.

The opening track, “Angel of Death,” serves as the first single. It deals with the isolation and indifference these systems coldly impose. A visualizer for the song was released on October 26, with motion graphics and visuals by Husnain and CTRL CLICK.

The Memory Of Snow covers Mariah Carey and Wham! on The Dark Christmas EP

The Memory Of Snow, the coldwave and darkwave project of French artist Albin Wagener, will release The Dark Christmas EP on December 4, 2026 through Meridian Noir Records. The six-track digital EP is available for pre-order on Bandcamp, where two songs can already be heard.

The EP covers six Christmas songs: “Last Christmas” by Wham!, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano, “Underneath The Tree” by Kelly Clarkson, “Winter” by The Sound and “Please Come Home For Christmas” by Charles Brown. Wagener arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered everything at Brkfst Studios in Lille, where his fourth album, Inside, was also made.

Inside came out on June 26, 2026, among the first releases of Meridian Noir Records, a label Wagener co-founded with Thalie Némésis. The 12-track album is inspired by David Bowie’s Outside. Previously, The Memory Of Snow had released Home Is Where The Heart Aches in 2023 and Atlantic in 2024, then Obsidian Dust in 2025 on Transmission Nova.

Plague Vendor returns with Highway Love Letter on Epitaph

Plague Vendor, a post-punk band from Whittier, California, released the single “Highway Love Letter” on October 23 through Epitaph Records.

The song runs two and a half minutes. It rests on Brandon Blaine’s jagged vocals and Henri Cash’s sharp guitar. The band strips away the superfluous for raw garage-punk energy. The source article sees it as a spiritual successor to the By Night era, with a darker urgency.

The visuals accompanying the single are by Aubree Estrella.

Philip Frobos releases Taste for the Unsavory, with Mastodon and Preoccupations as guests

Philip Frobos releases Taste for the Unsavory, his second solo album after Vague Enough to Satisfy, released in 2021. That first record was the soundtrack to his debut novel of the same name. The new album was co-produced by Rodrigo Avendaño, known for his work with Soccer Mommy, and extends the post-punk landscapes of its predecessor.

Frobos presents the song “The Handoff” as a pulp-style dark tale, told in a style that blends Madchester and Athens, Georgia. Gammill, vocalist of the Brooklyn art punk band Gustaf, takes part in the record. Bill Kelliher of Mastodon plays on “Fulton County Stadium at 8:05 AM,” and Matthew Flegel of Preoccupations on “Nautical Knots.”

The cover art is by Frankie Broyles, Frobos’ partner in Omni. A cocktail zine, with original drinks and pastel drawings by Emily Frobos, comes with the album. The twelve tracks run from “Death of a Chef” to “Taut Theme.”

Trentemøller unveils Your Love Walks Alone with Sune Rose Wagner

Trentemøller has released Your Love Walks Alone, sung by Sune Rose Wagner of The Raveonettes. It is the third single from his upcoming album, following Terrified, featuring Jonas Bjerre of Mew, and Swerve, featuring Sakura.

Wagner describes the song as a portrait of a pure love slowly fading, and of the effect it has at the moment you realize you are being replaced. Trentemøller explains that the collaboration stems from an earlier contribution by Wagner to one of his tracks. This time, he had an instrumental that seemed to suit that voice and sent it to him. The singer quickly sent his vocal part back.

For the first time in Trentemøller’s career, every track on the album features vocals. Anika, Midwife, Tan Cologne and Emma Acs also appear.

Laibach: Volk, the national anthems album, turns twenty

The Slovenian industrial band Laibach released its seventh album, Volk, on October 26, 2006 through Mute Records. The record is celebrating its twentieth anniversary.

Laibach wrote and produced it with another Slovenian band, Silence. Each of the fourteen tracks reinterprets a national or pan-national anthem: “Germania,” “America,” “Anglia,” “Rossiya,” “Francia,” “Italia,” “España,” “Yisra’el,” “Türkiye,” “Zhonghuá,” “Nippon,” “Slovania” for the former Yugoslavia and Pan-Slavism, “Vaticanae” and “NSK,” the anthem of the fictional state Neue Slowenische Kunst. Singer Boris Benko of Silence and several guest voices share the songs, recorded between Ljubljana, London and Hamburg.

Laibach formed in 1980 in Trbovlje, a mining town in Yugoslav Slovenia, and took the German name of Ljubljana. Its imagery parodied totalitarianism, nationalism and militarism, which brought bans and controversy. In 1984, the group co-founded the Neue Slowenische Kunst collective with IRWIN and the Théâtre des Soeurs Scipion Nasice. At Mute, it had already released Opus Dei (1987), Kapital (1992) and Jesus Christ Superstars (1996), before WAT in 2003. Volk applies the same principle of reinterpretation to an entire album.

Vampire Valentine tells of sin and judgment on the EP Scarred and Sacred

The British post-punk and darkwave band Vampire Valentine released the EP Scarred and Sacred digitally on October 25 through Morella Records. It can be ordered on Bandcamp.

Unlike the band’s self-titled album, the six tracks follow a single narrative arc: sin, repentance, then final judgment at the gate. The style shifts with the stages of the story. An atmospheric, melodic introduction gives way to a more unsettling darkwave turn, then to a heavier darksynth color. The EP closes on a modern post-punk passage with the title track.

The band has recorded a lot since its first single, “Porcelain,” released in November 2025. The single “Thorns” followed, and Vampire Valentine signed with Morella Records in January 2026.

Tom Skerritt, Alien's Captain Dallas, dies at 93

Actor Tom Skerritt has died at the age of 93. His family announced his death, saying they were “devastated” by the loss, and cite natural causes. They describe a man devoted to imagination, creation, storytelling, veterans and helping others.

For horror cinema, he remains Captain Dallas, commander of the Nostromo in Ridley Scott's Alien (1979). Calm and pragmatic, the character is removed from the story early, showing that his rank will protect no one. Horror Obsessive stresses that his understated performance gives that sequence its power.

He also appeared in David Cronenberg's The Dead Zone (1983), adapted from Stephen King, and in Poltergeist III (1988). His career also includes M*A*S*H and Top Gun, as well as six seasons of the series Picket Fences, where his role as Sheriff Jimmy Brock earned him an Emmy.

Trevor Henderson, creator of Siren Head, from illustration to film

Since the 2010s, Trevor Henderson has been drawing a bestiary of original creatures, known as the Slimyswampghost Mythos. As early as 2012, he was posting body horror-inspired illustrations online under the pseudonym Slimyswampghost.

Cartoon Cat and Siren Head, his best-known creatures, were put online in the summer of 2018. During the pandemic, Cartoon Cat inspired many fan works and a short film, while Siren Head appeared in indie video games and viral TikTok videos. Unlike other figures born on the internet, his creatures have remained tied to their creator, who controls their canon.

In 2022, the podcast Mayfair Watchers Society, hosted by Pacific S. Obadiah of Bloody FM, drew on his drawings, with Henderson serving as creative director. He then designed creatures for the film Tarot (2024), contributed to the short film The God Man and illustrated books, including his series Scarewaves. A Siren Head film, co-written by Zach Creggor and Brian Duffield, is in development, and Cineverse is partnering with the artist to adapt the podcast for the big screen.

Simone Puorto follows the Joy Division pilgrims in A Cactus In A Dead Land

Italian author Simone Puorto has published A Cactus In A Dead Land, a book of about 300 pages on the legacy of Joy Division. It is not just another biography: the book focuses above all on those who keep the legend of Ian Curtis alive. Puorto draws on music history, collective memory, philosophy and the anthropology of ritual to explore the streets, record shops, walls and graves of Macclesfield and Manchester that have become places of pilgrimage since the singer’s death in 1980.

At the heart of the story is Cornelia F., a Joy Division fan. Puorto reconstructs her story from archival research, correspondence and testimonies. According to the book, she is buried about seventeen graves from Curtis’s memorial in Macclesfield and died on 18 May 1993. Its publishers note that her story rests on fragmentary, at times contradictory memories, and the book separates documented facts from speculation. It also reproduces a photo believed to show Curtis, found on a damaged card left near the memorial and later restored.

The full title is “A Cactus in a Dead Land: Pilgrimage and Ritual in the Cultural Afterlife of Ian Curtis and Joy Division (and the Forgotten Story of Cornelia F.)”. The foreword is by Belgian photographer Philippe Carly, the afterword by cultural historian Jennifer Otter Bickerdike. Self-published, the book is available in paperback, hardcover and digital editions via Amazon.

The Black Tapes, the horror podcast, becomes an MGM+ series starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

MGM+ is adapting The Black Tapes, the horror podcast by Terry Miles and Paul Bae launched in 2015, as a series. The show, which will keep the same title, will run for eight episodes. Filming is due to begin in January 2027.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known for Game of Thrones, will play Dr. Richard Strand, a paranormal investigator. This psychiatrist with a mysterious past teams up with the obsessive scientist Alex Regan to debunk paranormal cases: hauntings, possessions, disappearances and sinister legends, including the infamous black tapes. As they dig deeper, they uncover a hidden occult world and an apocalyptic conspiracy centuries old.

Miles and Bae are involved in the series as writers and executive producers. John Rogers also produces, with Jennifer Court of Kung Fu Monkey Productions and Kearie Peak of Peak Pictures. Rogers says he wants to bring The Black Tapes to a new generation and expand its mythology, which the presence of both creators in the writers’ room makes possible.
