Alien Faktor returns with Hanging By a Threat, first single from Stockholm Syndrome

Wisconsin electro-industrial project Alien Faktor has released Hanging By a Threat, the first single from the album Stockholm Syndrome, due on January 15, 2027. The song came out on October 27 on streaming platforms and on a pay-what-you-want basis on Bandcamp, with a censored version that tones down the profanity.

The band's last album, Arterial Spray… and Cattle Mutilations, dates from October 31, 1997. Alien Faktor then went on hiatus after the closure of Decibel Records. Founder Thomas L. Muschitz turned to film and audio production, which fed into the new songs, started in 2025 with guitarist and programmer Mike Hunsberger.

Muschitz presents Hanging By a Threat as a statement against intolerance and injustice: “kindness is strength, violence is weakness, compassion is an art and hatred is a disease”. Muschitz produces, records and mixes the album, which was mastered by Greg Reely (Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory, Delerium). Connie Ward and Matt Fanale (Caustic, Klack) lend their voices as guests.

State Alchemist: Ash & Soil, American synthpop with rolling basslines

State Alchemist, a synthpop band from the United States, presents Ash & Soil. The band describes the track as a story of attraction told through the elements, where fire, water, ash and earth come together.

The track rests on rolling basslines, a catchy melody and emotive vocals. Electrozombies magazine hears in it one of the best examples of Swedish synthpop and compares it to the duo Red Cell, while stressing the band’s American origin.

Sunroof releases a Q Mix version of Electronic Music Improvisations Vol. 3

Sunroof, the duo of Daniel Miller and Gareth Jones, unveils “Ensnare (Q Mix)”, taken from a new version of Electronic Music Improvisations Vol. 3. The record will be released digitally on November 27, 2026 on Mute’s Parallel Series.

The album gathers nine tracks improvised on Eurorack modular systems, recorded on four channels with no re-recording and no prior rehearsal, like live performances. The Q Mix extends the duo’s approach, as they often write and play in quadraphonic. Jones explains that every speaker counts as much as the others: there is no front and no back.

“Splendid” was recorded on the TEAC 4-track that Miller had bought second-hand in the late 1970s and used for The Normal’s Warm Leatherette 7-inch.

Miller and Jones have collaborated since 1982, when Miller asked Jones to work with him on Depeche Mode’s Construction Time Again. The two carried on with their own sessions once the band had moved on. Volumes 1 and 2 of Electronic Music Improvisations date from 2021 and 2023.

Sara Noxx announces Ultraviolet, first single from the album Onyxx

German dark electronic artist Sara Noxx announces Ultraviolet, a single due digitally on November 6, 2026. It opens the “Triple-A” release series for her upcoming album Onyxx.

After the singles “Poor Old Man” and “Under Attack”, released in 2026, Ultraviolet takes a more direct, club-oriented approach, with a faster bassline and sharp synths, designed for radio as much as for the dance floor. According to the artist’s announcement, the two previous singles reached number one on the Deutsche Alternative Charts and the American Alternative Charts.

Onyxx is part of a triptych with Polluxx and Detoxx, announced in March 2026 for release on Prussia Records / ZYX. Sara Noxx, who lives in Berlin, founded Epixx Studios in 2025, where she worked on these three albums. She first made her name in 1997 by winning Zillo’s band contest with her project Essexx.

SEXSOMNIA unveils the video for Subspace, first preview of the EP Raven(ous)

Montreal darkwave trio SEXSOMNIA has released Subspace, along with a video. It is the band's first song since the EP Forbidden in August 2025, and a taste of the EP Raven(ous), due in early 2027. The song sets the body's conflicting signals against two basslines and a cold electronic rhythm.

Philip Faith sings alone here for the first time on a band single, whereas earlier releases played on the contrast between a deep, rough voice and guest female vocals. Martin Bowes of ATTRITION mastered the track at Cage Studios. Faith describes Subspace as a trip through “the in-between realm of pure pleasure”, with the danger of mistaking that state for reality.

The video adopts a Giger-inspired biomechanical aesthetic: blue-lit figures with metallic skin, undulating tubes, and the band under smoke and magenta, cyan and white lights.

SEXSOMNIA was founded in Montreal in October 2021 by Philip Faith and Pat Gaudette, joined by Michael K. Rien. Its first album, Transcendent, came out in 2024 on the French label Manic Depression Records.

Wolfsheim formed in Hamburg in 1987 around Markus Reinhardt and Pompejo Ricciardi, with Peter Heppner taking over vocals later. Casting Shadows (2003) reached number one on the German charts.

In Strict Confidence announces The Final Kiss, new album due November 20

In Strict Confidence announces The Final Kiss, the electro-industrial band’s new studio album, due on November 20 digitally, on CD and on vinyl. The vinyl will be a limited edition on colored vinyl, with an exclusive bonus track. Pre-orders for the physical editions, as well as a bundle combining all formats with a T-shirt and a tote bag, are open on the band’s store.

The single “Fever” and its video came out on October 16. The video shows a couple facing (super)natural phenomena in a desert, in a near-apocalyptic atmosphere. The visuals draw on founder Dennis Ostermann’s experience as a photographer and filmmaker, and use AI-based retouching. Ostermann hopes the album will be counted among the best records of 2026.

The Final Kiss follows Hate2Love, released in 2018. In between came the album Mechanical Symphony, which reinterprets the band’s songs in orchestral and instrumental versions, the remix collection RMXONE in 2019, a 25th anniversary reissue of Cryogenix in 2021, and then the maxi-single “Blasphemous Rumours” in February 2026, featuring a Depeche Mode cover in three versions.

Omnihell: Handcuffed to the Steering Wheel, new single from Julian Ash’s project

Omnihell, the post-punk project of Los Angeles musician Julian Ash, releases the single Handcuffed to the Steering Wheel. Ash wrote and produced it, Blake Dimas plays drums and Auragraph handles the mastering.

Crystalline guitars and a lively beat carry lyrics about control in a toxic relationship: the one who wants to dominate the other ends up suffering the damage of that grip. Ash’s echo-soaked voice contrasts with the apparent lightness of the arrangement. According to Post-Punk.com, the track leaves an impression of emotional exhaustion tempered by compassion.

Laibach: Jesus Christ Superstars turns thirty, five facts about an album of sacred covers

Laibach released the album Jesus Christ Superstars on 28 October 1996, exactly thirty years to the day before the Orkus article looking back on the record. The industrial band brings together nine tracks on it, all built around religion.

The album mixes original compositions and covers. Among the tracks written by Laibach are “Black Star” and “Kingdom of God”. As for the covers, “Jesus Christ Superstar” comes from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical of the same name. “The Cross” was written by Prince, and “God Is God” by the psytrance project Juni Reactor.

The band set itself no genre limits in its choices. According to Orkus, Laibach's distinctive sound and singing style allowed them, as usual, to take full ownership of these compositions from elsewhere. The magazine also invites readers to watch the video for “God Is God” again.

Savage Lake by Nick Medina: an Indigenous horror novel in the northern woods

Savage Lake, the fourth novel by Nick Medina, a Tunica-Biloxi author and the writer of Sisters of the Lost Nation, is published by Berkley on October 27, 2026. The action leaves Louisiana for the forests of the North.

Nell inherits the family cabin on Torchlight Lake after the death of her father, whom she had not spoken to in years. She brings her son Oscar, a teenager raised on slasher films. The roads crossing Indigenous land are closed by the local tribe, and they are stuck there all summer.

The story alternates between the present, seen through Oscar, and the summer of 1999, seen through Nell at his age, when her family was still together. It blends slasher conventions, a Bigfoot hunt and Anishinaabe legends around a family secret.

Jim McLeod of Ginger Nuts of Horror gives it five stars out of five.

Kelly Thompson gives the Bride of Frankenstein her own series at Image Comics

The first issue of Universal Monsters: Bride of Frankenstein Lives was released on October 28, 2026 by Image Comics and Skybound. It opens a four-issue miniseries, with the following issues planned monthly.

Kelly Thompson writes and Mattia De Iulis draws: the two creators reunite after The Cull. The story begins with the Bride waking up, her memory completely gone. Made of stolen flesh and brought back to consciousness, she has to work out where she comes from while surviving in a world that was not ready to see her again. The character comes from James Whale's 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein, in which Elsa Lanchester played her.

This first issue runs 32 pages and costs $4.99. It comes with eleven covers, including work by De Iulis, Joshua Middleton, Artgerm, Luana Vecchio, Rosemary Valero O'Connell, Christian Ward, David Talaski and Ryan Sook, plus a blank cover to draw on yourself. The series extends the Universal Monsters comics line from the two publishers, which already included a series devoted to Frankenstein.

A documentary on Danielle Harris is in the works, from Halloween 4 to Rob Zombie's films

Deranged Minds Entertainment has begun work on a feature-length documentary about Danielle Harris, tracing her path from child actor to horror icon. The film is built around her four appearances in the Halloween series: as a child playing Jamie Lloyd in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, then as an adult in Rob Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II.

Destinie Orndoff directs and produces, with Tristan Clay as co-director and producer. The project draws on archival footage, home movies and new interviews with the actress, her family and her collaborators.

The official description says the film will address painful episodes in her life: the death of her father in a car accident that was never explained, the suicides of a former partner and a close friend, a stalker who reportedly followed her for twenty years, and a pregnancy complication that reportedly stopped her heart. These details come from the production materials and have not been independently verified.

The documentary, still untitled, is in post-production.
